Stone country house with a private garden and pool on an organic farm
The country house is part of an organic farm in Pieve a Ranco, in Arezzo province. It is on the slope of a hill, with a view of the castle ruins from the 13th century and on the edge of a forest where mushrooms, chestnuts and truffles grow.
The house is on two floors: on the first floor there are three bedrooms, two with a double bed and one with two single beds, as well as a bathroom. On the ground floor there are a bathroom, the kitchen with a fireplace and the living room, also with a fireplace. There is also a laundry room. The house is made of stone and so it is cool in summer and warm in winter. It was restored, preserving the original building materials as far as possible, but installing modern standardised systems. The interior features authentic Tuscan furniture, tables, chairs and doors that have been in family ownership since the 19th century.
The garden is on two levels and has a barbecue area and a pool, and is for the exclusive use of guests. The property is completely fenced and is closed off by an electronic gate. The garden is watered automatically. There is also a tank with 3000 litres of water. A private road leads to the house. In front of the house there is a sun terrace, with a gazebo and garden furniture. Guests can use the carpark 20 metres from the house.
The villa belongs to an agricultural enterprise that practices organic farming. Guests can purchase the various products cultivated and produced on site. On the plot of land on a hill that dominates Val Cerfone lies the castle Castello del Ranco, one of the most interesting Tuscan castles architecturally. The origins of the castle probably go back to the 11th or 12th centuries, when the Langobards and the Byzantines ruled this area.
From the villa you can visit Florence (115km), Florenz (115km), Perugia (65km), Siena (70km), Cortona (25km), Città di Castello (12km), the sources of the Tiber (40km) and Arezzo (18km). It is also easy to get to Umbrian towns, Assisi and Gubbio. The most essential services such as a pharmacy, banks and a supermarket are 7km away, or in town (20km away). There are restaurants 8km away and the nearest pizzeria is 5km away.
